Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc., together with its wholly owned subsidiary PT. Kansai Energy Solutions Indonesia (KESI), is pleased to announce today the approval of its participation in the FY2024 Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) Funding Support Project, specifically under the Equipment Subsidy Project.

We have been promoting solutions for the development and operation of optimal energy systems, aiming to meet various customer needs, including energy efficiency, cost reduction, and CO₂ emission control. Internationally, we have established local subsidiaries in Thailand and Vietnam to expand our solutions business.

In November of this year, we also established KESI in Indonesia, leveraging our domestic and overseas expertise to provide energy solutions through solar power systems and other services.

KESI is Kansai Electric Power’s third overseas subsidiary specializing in energy solution proposals.

KESI’s project, which focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Indonesia through the utilization of advanced low-carbon technologies, has been officially adopted under Japan’s Ministry of the Environment’s FY2024 Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) Equipment Subsidy Project. The project is expected to reduce approximately 12,000 tons of CO₂ over 17 years.

The Kansai Electric Power Group has committed to the challenge of achieving carbon neutrality as part of its mid-term business strategy and has been actively working on CO₂ reduction efforts both in Japan and abroad. We will continue to utilize our knowledge and expertise gained through these activities to provide services tailored to customer needs, contributing to the realization of a zero-carbon society.

Note:
This program supports projects in developing countries that reduce greenhouse gas emissions by introducing advanced decarbonization technologies. The initiative includes Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) and aims to help Japan and its partner countries achieve their emission reduction targets. Subsidies cover up to 50% of the initial investment cost of such technologies.
